Groups and Workshops
Struggling with an eating disorder/disordered eating, body image, and self-esteem concerns can be isolating and confusing, especially when those around us seem to lack understanding of what we are going through. Social connection and common humanity can be powerful elements in cultivating healing from disconnection of the mind and body. Attending a group and/or workshop can provide a safe environment for sharing your internal battle and receiving support and understanding in return. Groups and workshops allow you to learn and practice skills for coping, grow in collaboration with others who share similar struggles, and develop hope for moving forward.
There are a lot of obstacles that can get in the way of recognizing that your behaviours and thoughts regarding food and body are damaging. Even when we begin to acknowledge the pain that our eating disorder/disordered eating behaviours are causing, it can be challenging to make the changes we need to. Recovering or healing from your eating disorder/disordered eating can feel like too overwhelming of a task to take on, especially by yourself.
Empowered Foundations is a combination of a support and skill building group for those that are looking to build up their readiness for recovery. Group will run for 4 weeks and we will discuss topics such as, emotional regulation and interpersonal communication strategies, symptom management skills, self-care, body image, and motivation building skills. There is also opportunity for group members to provide input on topics that are of interest to them. A dietician with extended training in eating disorders/disordered eating will also be joining group sessions for extra support in food related questions or concerns. 4-6 members will be allotted for this group.
